Talks on Substance Abuse
As part of on ongoing work of the YaR programme, we also go to schools to give talks on the dangers and consequences of substance abuse. Even the Education Department of Goa has mandated that every school in Goa need to have awareness talks on substance abuse, mental health and sexual harassment.
The sessions that we conduct in schools is a 30-minute talk where the children of Std. 8-10 can interact with our presenters and ask questions after the presentation. So far the presentations have gone of quite nicely and there has been plenty of interaction with the students.
Picnic at Shivaaz Amsterdam
On March 31, 2025 the boys were extremely excited to go for a picnic. They left the premises at 8am in a bus and headed for Shivaaz Amsterdam in Dodamarg, a one-hour journey. At the picnic spot, they started the day off with some games on the spacious grounds next to the venue: playing volleyball and cricket. Some of the smaller boys just enjoyed running around. After a small snack break, the boys eagerly jumped into the pool to have a swim. They enjoyed the pool so much that there had to be coaxed out for lunch.

Lunch was a sumptuous meal provided by the venue. After lunch, it was time for some rest. Some boys played carrom, others tried their hand at the pool table. We even had a rollicking game of Housie which everyone enjoyed.
Soon it was time for a short “tea” break and we were ready to go home. As we were about to set off, the owners three dogs came down for a walk: a massive husky and two teeny-tiny dogs. All the dogs were very calm and peaceful and did not mind the boys crowding around to pet them. They calmly posed for pics with the boys.
We left the venue at about 4pm. The journey back was pretty silent as many of the boys grabbed a power nap. A tired but sunburnt group of boys came back to MBBS after an eventful day.
