The management of MBBS decided to take the boys and staff for a picnic to Siridao Beach on Sunday, March 1, 2026. The preparations and planning done, they gand o ready for the much-anticipated picnic.
Before leaving for the beach, Fr. Francis Silveira told the boys that they needed to behave and listen to the Father’s, Brother and staff members.
The day dawned bright and sunny as the boys got on the lovely bus. Soon we were off and had a pleasant and uneventful journey to the beach. Even though there were a number of narrow roads and sharp turns on the way, the experienced young driver managed to negotiate them ably. In the meanwhile, the boys had their playlist ready and they enjoyed some good music.
Siridao beach is a very small beach with hardly any people and almost no facilities. We could see the water from the small strip that was the beach. While some of us cut some fruit, others put the fruit and concentrated juice with ice into a water dispenser.
We had taken two ropes along, so there were some intensive tug-o-war duels – the smaller boys in one group and the bigger boys in another. However, the rope used by the bigger boys snapped and that put an end to the games.
Soon it was time for a snack and the boys enjoyed a burger. Also a much needed drink from their water bottles.
The boys were eagerly eyeing the water. As soon as they were allowed to go, they rushed out to the beach. Then it was a joyous time as some of them enjoyed the water while others played kabaddi, volleyball and football. Some of them just enjoyed digging in the sand.
The tide was going out, so the lifeguard on duty made sure that he warned the to be careful of the under-tug of the water. The smaller boys were happily collecting small shells with crabs in them. Some boys filled the shells and small crabs into a bottle to take back to MBBS,
Even though there was a scorching sun up above, the boys had s good time. As we called them in for lunch, they enjoyed the fruit punch. When that got over, they enjoyed eating the fruit. All too soon it was time for a sumptuous lunch of rice, fish curry, fried cabbage, salad, kismoor, and fried fish. This was followed by a juicy slice of watermelon.
As the boys digested their lunch, we had a round of housie. When the game was over, they were allowed to have another swim, which they thoroughly enjoyed. As the sun was ready to set, we got out of the water, changed and had some snacks.
The journey back was equally interesting as we made a stop at the Provincial House in Odxel. The boys were awed by the beautiful building and facilities, but were especially excited to see gym on the terrace. Fr. Francis Silveira showed them around the place and also said a short prayer in the Chapel.
A tired bunch of boys got on the bus for the final leg home. Just as we were about to reach MBBS, the boys raised a cheer to show how much they enjoyed the whole day.
