For the past 7 years, Fr. Jose Sequeira served as Rector of MBBS. During this time he brought about many positive changes in Margaret Bosco Bal Sadan (MBBS) and took the Child Care Institution (CCI) to new heights.
In September, Fr. Jose was given a new responsibility as Economer for the Goa Province. He has now moved to the Provincial House in Odxel.
To take his place at MBBS, we now have Fr. Francis Silveira, the previous Economer, as Rector of MBBS.
The handing-over-taking-over happened in mid-September, though the process had started earlier. On 15th September, the Vice-Provincial, Fr. Banzelao Texeira came in to finish the handing-over-taking-over process.
In the meanwhile, the boys at MBBS along with the staff had prepared a small surprise.
But first, Fr. Clive Tellis, the Provincial, concelebrated an Installation Mass. One part of the Mass was reading out the Installation Order. Then charge was handed over to Fr. Francis Silveira, who also took an oath to fulfil his duties as Rector of MBBS.
After Mass, it was time for the boys to put up a small programme. Fr. Jose Sequeira was given a farewell gift from his confreres, Fr. Bennet Aranjo, Fr. Savio Dias and Br. Jayson Fernandes. As this was going on, snacks were served to all the guests.
Om Naik performed a song with the help of Amithroy Fernandes on the guitar. Then there was a short video presentation with some of the boys and staff giving heart-felt messages to Fr. Jose. When the presentation was over, Fr. Jose said a few words followed by Fr. Francis Silveira.
We welcome Fr. Francis Silveira as our new Rector and bid farewell to Fr. Jose Sequeira who did wonderful service as Rector. We wish him all the very best in his new posting.
